Abstract: 1) Published information and timber production data of micro and small producers were collected in the municipalities of the Amazon estuarine region, Macapá and neighbourhood aiming at supporting decision making by Ibama's Pará Technical Advisory Committee to establish maximum annual production per year by each producer. Based on this study, a maximum volume of 200 m3 per ha per year was set up. This allowable production is to be regulated by special act to be edited both by Ibama's offices in Pará and Amapá States.; 2) This article presents a conversion factor of geometric volume of standing trees  to Francon volume aiming to standardise the volumes reported on the Authorisation for Transport of forest Products issued by Ibama. Therefore the expression Vf= 0,7854 x 0,7 x standing tree volume should be applied by the producers to calculate the volumes to be recorded on the authorisation form sheet.; 3) This paper deals with the definition of a methodology for calculating sawn volume frorm round volume based on both geometric and Francon measurements. The coefficients for converting geometric and Francon volumes were respectively, 58.2% and 74%. These coefficients which correspond respectively to 1.7 and 1.4 should be adopted by IBAMA (PA).</description>

Abstract: To estahlish food production programs, in a way that hunger may be banished from man's future, is lhe target of the nations of the world. Brazil is one of lhese which, in the future, should increase its influence in food production, in world scale terms. The State of Pará, as a part of Brazil's moisty tropical region features conditions for the developing of grain production cultures, since that the balance of the ecosyslem remains non-affected. This work makes a stalistical study envolving the main grain culturcs in Pará: tice, corn and beans, in the 80's, in terms of production, cultivated area, "per capita" production and efficiency per area unit. The total and average values were calculalcd, as well as were studied the variations of the above mentioned variables, and comparcd their annual values, through several índices. After regression analyses, equations were calculated with the objective of studying the historical tendency of the productive behavior for the next years.</description>

Abstract: The rivers water of Pará coast are salty in determined periods of the year because of the influence of the ocean, and the producers do not have any knowledge of it's effect on the wetlands and the soil characteristics of these areas. The objectives of this research were to identify these soils, its chenucal properties and the possibility of its utilization for food crops. Soil mapping was made by soil survey in a scale of 1:100.000 and determination of morphological, physical, chemical and mineralogical properties. Main rivers were selected to&#xD;
locate areas of salty influence. Soils description were made based on Soil Survey Manual defmitions (Estados Unidos. Department of Agriculture, 1993) and in the Manual de Método de Trabalho de Campo (Lemos &amp; Santos, 1996). Soil analysis were made acoording to Embrapa, SNLCS (1979). Soil and water samples were collected int he rainy and dry period of the year. Soluble salts of the water were determined in samples collected in strategic points of the rivers, at every two hours, observing tidal flux and reflux. The climate of Pará coast is AW, with annual precipitation higher than 1750 mm and mean annual temperature of 26º C.</description>

Abstract: Valuation of the use Natural Resources of the AmazSnia, and to give suggestions about reasonable&#xD;
ocupations. In this study the soils are classified into two categories: a) Dystrophic Soils - Yellow Latosol,&#xD;
Red Yellow Latosol, Red Latosol, Red Yellow Podzolic Soils, Concrecionary Lateritic Soils , Ground Water Laterite, Hydromorphic Podsol, Sand and Dystrophic Gleized Hidromorphic Soils; b) Eutrophic Soils - Dusk Red Latosol; Terra Roxa Estruturada, Eutrophic Red Yellow Podzolic Soils, Eutrophic Cambisol and Eutrophic Gleized Hidromorphic Soils. These soils are disposed in High and Médium Plateau. Planed Surfaces, Depressions, Fluvial Flood Plains and Fluvio-Marines Floods Plains,and the great number are covered by Ombrophilous Closed Forest and Woodland Forest, that provide a voluminous deal of comercisble wood about 760 millions of m3 designed for foreign market and 1.300 millions of for internal market. Data of soils, relief and forest were used to sugqest a better employment of Natural Resources, as to select six main areas for their more appropriate utilizations. The selection of the Edapho-Climatic Zones was made with the aid of the priority climatic map based on climatic point of view. Discussions were made about activities and cultures adapted to each area conditions.</description>
